• Oral Contraceptives (i.e.. Birth Control Pills) *This medications are required to be taken for a period of time (approx.30-45 days) in order to synchronize your menstrual cycle with the Intended Mother or an egg donor.
• GnRH AGONIST (Lupron, Synarel or similar) will be required to be self administered as a subcutaneous injection. Usually taken once daily for up to one month prior to the embryo transfer procedure.
  *This medication is used to prevent the release of eggs by ovulation and assists in maintaining proper FSH and LH levels throughout your surrogacy cycle.
• Estradiol Valerate (delestrogen) will be required to administered twice weekly as an intramuscular injection. Typically this medication will be administered up to 30 days prior to your embryo transfer and continue through the 12th week of pregnancy.
  *This medication is used to thicken the endometrial lining to prepare for the implantation process.
• Progesterone will be required to administered as an intramuscular injection or vaginal suppository depending on your clinics protocol. Typically this medication will be administered a few days prior to your embryo transfer and continue through the 12th week of pregnancy.
  *This medication assists with the implantation process and helps maintain the pregnancy through the first trimester.

**Medication protocols may vary depending on the fertility clinic you are cycling with. Instruction will be provided for administering all cycle medications.**

Are there side effects to the medications?

The typical side affects that some surrogates experience are mild instances of the following:

• Hot Flashes
• Headache
• Bloating
• Fatigue
• Moodiness
• Breast Tenderness
